Turn your long layered hairstyle in to a funky faux bob hair cut
August 22nd, 2007
There are some great hair tutorials on youtube, this one shows how to create the illusion of a simple bob from longer layered hair.

A simple candid showing her hair pulled back.
Cute and simple.

Inspired by my last post for a medium length sleek style like Jennifer Anistons, I have decided to post a version that can be done with short hair.
For this style its good to start with shoulder length bob cut hair.
First wash and towel dry your hair so that it is still damp but all excess water has been removed, apply smoothing balm - there are so many to choose from I won’t recommend one - try them out and see what suits your hair.
Secondly part your hair - for the look shown it will need to be a side parting but experiment to find what works in your individual case.
Section your hair into 2 inch pieces so that they can be worked individually,
Use a hairdryer to dry your hair section by section while using a large round brush to pull hair straight, for this style a slight curl is added to the ends to create bounce, repeat this step on the same section until that section is completely dry. Then move to the next section until the whole head is done.
When you are happy with how the style looks a litte hair gloss can be added to give that extra shine.
As with most hairstyles the basic technique can be described, but each person needs to adjust the hair style to suit their own hair type, cut and personal preferences.
In 2008 one big style trend as in 2007 will be the medium to long super sleek hairstyle often achieved with a straightening iron such as the sedu, to achieve this hairdo without an iron, follow these simple steps.
1. Apply shine serum to towel dry hair making sure not to use to much product - more is definately not better. I recommend Clinique healthy shine serum with UV protection or for a cheaper but still good option try Neutrogena’s triple moisture healing shine serum.
2. Divide hair into manageble sections, clipping each back out of your way.
3. Take the first section and create smaller 1-2 inch sections, use a large round brush to comb the hair straight, keep combing hair until the section is completely dry - it should now be a lot straighter, make sure not to let the ends rest on anything that will cause them to flip out or curl under itself.
4. Move onto the next section and repeat until all hair has been straightened.
5. Part hair on one side in a place that is most flattering to your own facial features/shape and use a large flat brush to smooth the locks for a beautiful shiny finish.
A safe bet for the upcoming season will be Posh’s new hairdo, a graduated bob created for her by top London hair salon lockonego. The style is perfect for her fine features and far easier to maintain than her previous hair extensions. To get the look you’ll need to ask your stylist for a graduated bob. Phil Smith a celebrity stylist who recreated this look for the UK ’s NOW magazine advised that a V-shape section should be cut into the nape of the neck, the hair is deep point-cut and sliced through to create a soft flattering cut. To maintain the cut it should have a maintenance trim every 6 to 8 weeks.
As you can see in the picture Posh’s hair is also coloured with a mix of golden blond and caramel blonde and has chocolate brown lo lights.
This retro hairstyle is perfect for prom paired with 1920’s inspired ensemble.
To achieve the look follow these simple steps.
